Arabic eyebrows

You may see Arab women on tv or at get togethers and think what is up with those brows. I have saw many wide, arched, almost together and very black eyebrows that look like they have been painted on. I have always wondered why do so many Muslim women do this to their eyebrows when they know that it is haram. Scholars say that it is ok to remove the hair in between your eyebrows if it grows together and it is also ok to trim the brows if they are extremely bushy. That does not mean trim them to be thin.

But then later I realized that the women here in Saudi actually do not pluck or wax the brows even though it looks like it. They actually have them bleached (minus the shape they choose) and then the eyebrow specialist uses a pencil to fill the strays in that last for about a week. So you even up never having to trim, pluck or anything else. And they look flawless and you can not even tell the other hairs are still there.

Having your brows done is something that only married women do in Saudi so my mother in law told me she thought it would look nice on me. After learning about what actually takes place I decided to give it a try. It was kind of weird seeing all kinds of women with white cream (bleach) all over their foreheads with dark painted on brows at first. This sweet little Asian woman who is known to be the best is who would be doing mine. I was told to pick what style I liked from a large book. The one I chose looks like the above picture. I am so happy with my fabulous new brows. I can not believe I have not had this done before, they look absolutely perfect. I am one of those girls who has unruly black brows so no more tweezing the middle or trimming for me.

  6. Do you know of a way I can do this at home?
Or can you at least outline the steps involved so I can try attempting this at home.
I love the look, but like you, don't want to venture in the haram by plucking them.

  7. You can buy some bleaching cream like jolene. Shape your brows the way you want them with a liner pencil and then around the areas you do not want anymore use the bleach and allow the hair to be bleached and just do it again when the hair grows out.

this is the first time i see this blog of your sis *blushing* looks really nice, ma sha' ALLAH, i'm trying mine but i guess i'm not much of a blog girl lol

Sis what abt the scholars?? Do the y allow bleaching? and second question the bleached part doesn't shine with a silky look, you know like blond hair etc. would look odd and i'm really scared to mess it up.
    Any ideas?

Jazaki ALLAH khairan for all your efforts <3

  13. Hello, First time I read this post. And, at the risk of sounding controversial lol, I don't see what the difference is between plucking your eye brows to change their shape and bleaching the eye brows? Also there are many other options here in Saudi for the eye brows, there's waxing, sugaring and threading. There is a large portion of people who do not thing this is Haram or a bad thing so there is a lot of different treatments. In my opinion bleaching and plucking is exactly the same. It's just calling it another name. If you believe it's haram to pluck them because the shape changes then it changes with bleaching as well. If you believe it is Haram because of the pain then in that case removing ANY hair is haram. And if you believe it is Haram because it attracts attention bleaching gives the same results. Just my two cents :-)
